Manohar Joshi will be laid to rest at his current residence, W54 near Ruparel College, Matunga West. The funeral proceedings will take place from 11 am to 2 pm, followed by a procession to honor his legacy.
Joshi’s journey in politics was marked by his association with the Shiv Sena party, where he held various significant positions. He was a trusted confidant and close associate of the late Balasaheb Thackeray, the founder of Shiv Sena.
Before entering politics, Joshi served in the Mumbai Municipal Corporation after securing a job there. It was during this time that he began his political career under the leadership of Balasaheb Thackeray. Starting as a corporator, Joshi went on to become the Mayor of Mumbai and a member of the Legislative Council.
In 1995, when the coalition government came into power in Maharashtra, Joshi took oath as the Chief Minister, representing Shiv Sena. This marked a significant milestone in his political journey and solidified his position as a prominent leader within the party.
Beyond his role as Chief Minister, Joshi held several other notable positions, including Member of Parliament, Union Minister of Heavy Industries, Speaker of Lok Sabha, and Member of Rajya Sabha. His contributions to public service were recognized and respected across party lines.
It is important to note that Joshi’s political career was not without its challenges. He faced health setbacks, including a previous brain hemorrhage, which required an extended hospital stay. However, he persevered and continued to serve the people of Maharashtra with dedication and commitment.
